QR Code Generator — Free, No Sign-Up, No Expiry

Plenty of "free" QR codes quietly stop working a few weeks later, because the code really points at some company's server and the free trial ran out. Ours are different: this generator builds a static QR code right in your browser — your link, Wi-Fi details or number live inside the pattern itself. No account, no scan limit, nothing to expire, and nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.

Keep the colour dark against the white background — scanners struggle with pale codes. High error correction keeps the code readable even if the print gets a little worn or dirty.

Type something and your QR code will appear here.

Before you print: scan the preview with your own phone and check it opens the right thing.

How to make a QR code

Pick what the code should do at the top — open a link, join a Wi-Fi network, start an email or dial a number — and type the details. The code builds itself as you type. Choose a size (bigger for print), then download the PNG. That file is the finished thing: print it, put it on a poster, or drop it into a document. There is no second step and no account waiting for you at the end.

Why our QR codes never expire

There are two kinds of QR code. A dynamic code points at a company's server, which forwards the phone to your real link — handy for the company, because it can count your scans, show you ads, or turn the code off when you stop paying. A static code — the kind made here — carries the real destination inside the pattern itself. No server, no forwarding, no off-switch. If your link still works in five years, the code printed today still works too.

What people use them for

Wi-Fi codes are the favourite: one on the fridge or the café counter ends the reading-out-the-password ritual for good. Then come menu and payment links on tables, website links on flyers and shop windows, email codes on business cards, and phone codes on "call us" signs. Anything you would otherwise make people type, a code lets them tap instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do QR codes made here expire?

No. The codes this tool makes are static: the link or text is stored inside the black-and-white pattern itself, not on a server somewhere. There is nothing to switch off, so the code keeps working for as long as the printed copy lasts — years, not days.

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes — free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make or how often they are scanned. The code is generated on your own device, so it costs us nothing per code, and we pass that on.

How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?

Open the Wi-Fi tab, type your network name and password, and pick the security type (most home networks are WPA/WPA2). Print or show the code — guests point their phone camera at it and join the network without typing the password. Android and iPhone cameras both understand it.

Why do some free QR codes stop working?

Many services give you a dynamic code: the pattern points to their server, and their server forwards people to your link. That lets them switch the code off when a trial ends or a plan lapses. A static code has no middleman — the real destination is in the pattern — so nobody can switch it off.

Can I change where the code points after printing it?

No — that is the trade-off with a static code, and it is worth knowing before you print a thousand copies. Check the link carefully, scan the preview with your own phone first, and only then print. If the address ever changes, make a fresh code — it takes ten seconds.

Is what I type uploaded anywhere?

No. The generator runs in your browser; the text, Wi-Fi password or number you enter never leaves your device. Do still take care where you share the finished code — a Wi-Fi code shows your password to anyone who scans it, which is rather the point of it.
